Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services and wellness education to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for our patients’ complete health care needs.
Client Education: Our goal is to provide our clients with an education base that enables them to make informed decisions about their pet’s care. We educate our clients about disease, preventative and stages of life care. We want our clients to be empowered by knowledge.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite and human grade monitoring equipment provides the utmost safety of our patients.
Anesthesia: We use the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Our patients’ vital signs are constantly monitored by a nurse with a human grade ECG machine during all anesthetic procedures.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide human grade ECG services (pulse, heart rate and blood pressure monitoring) on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.
Referral medicine consults: We offer referrals to excellent local veterinary specialists working in a wide range of disciplines.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. We also provide dental radiology which enables our doctors to determine the best course of action during prophylactic procedures.
Dentistry: Our prophylactic services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations with most results arriving within one to two days.
Permanent identification: We offer microchip identification, and recommend safety identification for each of our patients. If your dog or cat already has a microchip, remind us to scan the chip at each visit to ensure that it is working properly.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of vitamins and supplements, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets which our staff will discuss in order to choose the best option for your pet in order to optimize wellness care.
Individualized Flea Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
Ultrasound Services: Ashburn Veterinary Hospital uses Mobile Imaging Veterinary Ultrasound (MiVU) to provide our clients with access to in-house ultrasound services.
Emergency Care: We recommend TLC in Leesburg, Virginia. Their telephone number is (703) 777-5755. TLC provides 24 hour emergency care.
