Rudy Salber, VMD
Dr. Salber’s passion for excellence, high quality veterinary care and wellness education makes him a perfect fit for our hospital. Dr. Salber began his studies at the University of Delaware where he received his undergraduate degree and completed his studies at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in May 2016. Dr. Salber has developed strong relationships with our clients and their furry family members. He believes in client education and focuses on a collaborative approach to medicine, recognizing the important relationship between owner and pet.
Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Salber has fallen in love with the Northern Virginia area and in his free time you’ll find him hiking, kayaking and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. He is passionate about the community and he also enjoys visiting local wineries. He spends his free time with his fiancé, Alex and their cat, Hamilton, or Hammy for short.
Dr. Salber is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP).
Erika Im, DVM
Dr. Im graduated Cum Laude from the College of Veterinary Medicine of Seoul National University, South Korea.
Following graduation, she came to the U.S. where her family lives and finished clinical rotations at the Veterinary Medical Hospital of Oklahoma State University. Two areas of interest include dermatology and soft tissue surgery.
She works hard to stay up-to-date with the most current treatment options for her patients. When making decisions, Dr. Im always strives to empathize with the client so the patient can receive the best care.
She currently lives in Fairfax County with her family and beautiful fish tank. Outside of work, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and playing with her nephew.
Thomas Jones, DVM
Dr. Thomas Jones is the Medical Director and founder of both Ashburn Veterinary Hospital and our sister hospital Fancy Paws Cat Clinic. He is a 1978 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and has spent his years since in both small animal general and emergency practice. After leaving his emergency practice in Richmond, he moved back to the Northern Virginia area and started the Ashburn Veterinary Hospital in 1994.
Throughout his career Dr. Jones has been active in local, state and national veterinary associations and a participant in the Virginia Tech Veterinary Student Mentoring Program, as well as a member of The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP).
To remain current in the field, Dr. Jones attend a variety of continuing education seminars in all areas of veterinary medicine.
Cami Phelps, CVPM
Cami is the Hospital Administrator at Ashburn Veterinary Hospital and our sister hospital, Fancy Paws Cat Clinic. She has been with the hospitals since 2007 and handles hospital operations and staff management. Cami loves the opportunity to meet clients and especially patients. She is passionate about the veterinary field because it provides the opportunity to truly connect with people and their pets and make a difference. Cami lives with her Miniature Schnauzer, Sophie, who has helped to teach her the fun in stopping to smell the roses…and other things.
Cami is a certified veterinary practice manager and a member of the Veterinary Hospital Manager’s Association (CVPM).
Katie has been working with Ashburn Vet since 2011 and runs the Marketing Department. She is the founder of Mission Catnip Marketing and has extensive experience in the animal industry. She loves connecting with our clients and she strives to bring them education and joy through social media.
Katie has an adventurous spirit that she loves to share with her husband and baby daughter. She shares her home with 4 cats and a bearded dragon. She is happiest in nature, whether that is a hike at local parks or a picnic on a spring day.

Client Service Representative
Melissa has worked at AVH for over 15 years. Even as a little girl, she knew she wanted to work with animals and even wanted to become a veterinarian. Melissa found her passion in client services and loves building personal relationships with our clients. She knows most of our clients and patients by name and is always ready to greet you with a smile. Melissa is married with two little boys and two Treeing Walker Coon Hounds, Buster and Henry. She loves the outdoors and spending quality time with her family.

Mindy has lived in Ashburn since she was a child and loves meeting the pet owners in this area. She has two cats, Luna & Tig, which give some of the best cuddles around. In her free time, you’ll find her eating Mexican food and spending time outdoors with friends and family. Mindy pet sits for a number of our clients and has become very close with a number of our patients.

Stephanie joined our hospitals with energetic enthusiasm and a sincere love for cats. With over ten years of customer service experience, she loves being a part of something she’s passionate about. She always had cats as pets growing up and has volunteered at animal shelters. You could say she’s a true cat lady. She enjoys searching the city for a good coffee shop, going to festivals of all kinds and spending time with her boyfriend. In her down time, she loves to do crafts and cook. Her cat Luna is never far behind, and is always ready for a belly rub and her mom’s attention.
Kyla has been with Ashburn Veterinary Hospital for over 14 years. Her love for animals is evident by watching her with any patient. She has a gift with our patients and they respond in kind. She has extensive knowledge of diseases as well as impressive technical skills from her many years in veterinary medicine. In her free time, Kyla loves to go camping with her constant companion, Boon, a terrier mix.
Kayla has always had a passion for animals. She received her Business Administration degree in 2012 from Shenandoah University but always knew that her career path would lead her back to animals. She is thrilled to be in the veterinary field and is also enrolled in the Penn Foster Veterinary Technician program to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Her calm demeanor helps to soothe our patients and create a positive experience with us. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two huskies, Mika and Kiya. When it’s time to relax; Kayla loves to hike, read and knit!
Kristen’s interest in animal husbandry started at a young age. She has always been surrounded by her many pets and even volunteered at a Raptor Rehabilitation Center. Her love for animal medicine has turned her compassion into a career. Kristen is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine and always wants to learn as much as possible! In her free time, Kristen is usually playing with her pup Buster or hanging out with her husband, Kristen’s favorite spot to relax is the woods – she can be found taking pictures, hunting, fishing, camping, or just going for a walk.
Kyla found her love for veterinary medicine early and is currently attending school for her undergraduate requisites, so she can continue her education to ultimately become a veterinarian. She is energetic, compassionate, loves to learn and wants to help every pet she encounters. Her desire to educate herself in this field is her goal and to in turn, help educate pet parents.
